Heck-tic Week and It's only Wednesday

I've been wanting to post but have gotten attacks of katamaran heeeh. That, and the internet connection has been a bit choppy these last few days. I moved the modem to a cooler place (just in case it is like me and affected by the blasted heat)

I'm scheduled for the gallbladder operation on 11 May (Wednesday). We had to reschedule because the doctor would be away for a convention this entire week. I'm getting open surgery as this is covered by my insurance, I don't mind scarring, and I *think* I've got a good tolerance for pain naman.

Jo said I could go get the lap surgery if I wanted, or forgo the insurance totally - pero I'm fine with the open method naman. I'll buy shoes nalang, diba J? Hahaha.

What I found amusing when I was speaking with the doctor was that he told me that the size of the incision would really depend on the size of the doctor's hands. Because he would have to reach inside my stomach slice for my gallbladder (!) No kidding :S

It's a good thing that the operation was moved to next week because that means I can help Maybelle (wowie) with her wedding. Kay and Helen (also wowies) and I will be manning the receiving table and take care of the seating assignments and gifts.

If you read this blog often you will have probably noticed that I have not quite developed my social skills, pero I promise I will be on my best behaviour during the reception.

Kay, her sister and I will be meeting at the Pen at about 2:30pm so we can have a last minute talk with Maybelle or her sister - just in case there is anything that comes up. After that we are thinking of loafing at the mall and maybe getting some makeup done at the counters (cheap no hahaha) and then returning to the Pen at 5pm so we can start arranging for the 6:30pm opening of the doors.

Maybelle is getting married to a distant cousin. Funny, because I've met Neal na previously at a couple wedding fairs, pero we never realized we were cousins until months after -- when I found out his last name and my middle name were the same.

What to wear? Hmmm. Pants most likely, and comfortable shoes, and maybe my trusty old beaded blouse. Buti nalang I had my nails done last weekend. The polish color is called Sand of a Beach....how could I not pick it?

Othercat has been sneaky.

She's the last remaining adult cat who has not been spayed. We had to put her spaying on hold because of her damaged liver. She got a blood test result of normal more than a month ago and we've been trying to schedule with the vet for an operation. The thing is - everytime she is scheduled, she goes into heat. Whining and yelping. We were glad she went out of heat late last week and were preparing to take her to the vet tomorrow...but now she's yowling again. So we have to reschedule.

Again.

Heeh. I am beginning to suspect she's just making arte to avoid the operation.

Ita seems to be doing better. Feisty kid. He's been back in the office for a week na, has been seizure free (thank you God) and we've gradually increased his time out of the cage.

He now runs up and down the stairs like the other kitties, sits on the topmost shelf of one of our storage racks and surveys his "kingdom".

Taray Look

He's lucky because he gets to eat his Prawn and Squid in Jelly (doctor's orders are to give him wet catfood), while the rest snarf dry catfood. Right now he is wrestling with a toy mouse we bought the cats last week.

We've got a meeting with a potential client tomorrow. I hope it goes well.

Another meeting Friday to review contracts for a new project (expansion of an office we designed previously).

Still another meeting next week for a call center project (4th floor we're doing in the same building).

We're very very thankful that we are able to get work without a marketing person -- really, with hardly any marketing at all. Most of our recent work has been new projects with an old client or referrals.

We practically killed ourselves setting up the office and I am happy we are finally doing better. We've worked very hard, made some mistakes, rectified, and learned a lot. We are actually in a state where we are no longer "patay gutom", accepting each project we get offered, and fighting for a project even if we know it will not be beneficial to the company (financially or experience or portfolio wise) -- just so we can get paid a salary at the end of the month. You know what, it feels good. And I am truly thankful to God.

I will really miss my work and office and the cats when I leave for SF. I hope J and I can visit Manila at least once a year so I can pop in and check on the cats, inspect the files, and run through project details. Come to think of it I think I will maintain my office email so I remain in the loop even if I am out of the country....

They'll probably still let me do the budgets and contracts anyway heeh.

Oh, I have to tell you. I am now a member of WifeSpeaks. It's a group blog made up of married women who share their thoughts on a variety of topics related to marriage, family, etc. I've actually been reading it for some time now, so I was really pleased to be invited. I like that the members give varied views on the topics.

I don't have any credentials in terms of experience as J and I haven't been married that long, and haven't lived together at all...so lets just say that I am speaking theoretically :) Plus age must count for something, right?
