Yield Woman!

I've only been to 2 Iglesia ni Cristo weddings and in case you aren't familiar with the ceremony, there is the processional, some singing and prayers , a lecture based on the bible, more singing, an offertory, exchanging of vows, a prayer and more singing.

The INC wedding lecture generally dwells on a husband and wife's responsibilities towards each other, as well as their roles. Joel and I used to talk about this is a philosophical manner as I had always made some disgruntled sounds about the part which says "woman, submit to your husband"* (as based on the Bible). I remember Joel turning around to give me a broad smile while I was listening to this at his friend's wedding. I just raised my eyebrows at him (a la "Ha Ha. You wish".

Of course, now that we're getting married I am thinking about this a lot. Grabe, it will be such a change for me. I've always been used to doing what I want and making decisions (this could probably be attributed to the "eldest child syndrome". Even at work I generally make the final decisions (with consultations of course - we are, after all, partners here at work heeh).

I do agree that one person needs to take the lead, pero cant it be me??? (Ehehe joke lang). Seriously though, it does make sense naman. If we always insisted on our way we would never get to do anything. And that doesn't mean naman that discussion is dead na. Me pa, I can ponder and analyse forever (not my fault, blame being born a Libra).

Joel, if you are reading this...that is how much I XXX you. I'll try daaaaaaamnnn hard. (insert angel smiley here)

Me Vito, you Pete.

* this verse is followed by one that says something like "Husband, treasure and take care of your wife" pero all I hear after the word "submit" is buzzing heeeh
