In the company of friends

Ita first.
Things are getting resolved. Ita had a seizure last week and Dr. Nick has decided to place him on Phenobarbital. Ita's a tiny guy and the doc wants to start him on the lowest possible dosage so it's 1/8 of a tiny pill for him. Pheno comes in a really tiny tablet so I am glad the vet cut the pills for us.
He's drowsy sometimes, but not as much as I expected. He still runs around and roughhouses with It, and nips at our ankles when we pass by.

From what I have read Pheno is a depressant that hopefully minimizes the number and intensity of seizures. It's a longterm maintenance drug and not a cure. We all just have to learn to live and deal with Ita's epilepsy. I'm just really glad we have a great vet in Dr. Nick.

Tuesday. Had dinner at Good Earth Metrowalk with Milett, Maila and Erika. We were all in college together and worked together (first jobs where we earned about 14pesos per hour hahah). It was really nice seeing all of them again...another chatter and gobble session...plus rundowns of our weddings (Milett and I got married on the same day), Maila's new accessories business, and work, work, work.
Grace, a W@Wie client of Maila's, passed by to pick up some jewelry she ordered from Maila. Alvin, a very good friend (also a member of W@W, I call him the "crafty groom" hehe) arrived. Roberta made a late appearance as well, and we ended up moving to Chicken Bacolod for some Adobo Pandesal, Suman and Tsokolate, and Choco Flan.
Akk, I am just remembering what we ate and I am getting phantom pains from my nonexistent gallbladder. :P

Met up with some online friends (you know who you are) later in the week and had a fun time. Chili's is a great place to go to when you're hungry because of their bottomless chips and nachos...and I just discovered that they give you a free scoop of ice cream if you tell them it's your birthday hahaha.
The friends said it was my birthday and I smiled and nodded thanks when the servers came to sing and give me my scoop of ice cream. So it wasn't true...I was feeling so sorry while I snarfed the free food heeheh.
Sa uulitin ha :)

A few posts back I was moaning about how the local shops didn't carry Melty Kiss. CSTiu was an angel and offered to take some home for me because she was coming back from HK.
I was so happy. Met Claire and her boyfriend at Powerbooks Megamall, and left with 3 boxes of Melty Kiss - chocolate, almond, and green tea. Ahhh heaven! Thank you thank you Claire for all the effort and taking the time to meet up -- I am sure you had a hectic few days here :) 10,000 thanks! I liked the Green Tea chocolates the best.....mmmmmmmmmmMMMMellllllty Kissssss.

I hope we can have coffee or dinner the next time you come home. I'll do research on where we can go :)

I then met up with Wowie friends last Saturday. People you get along with, Pritchon, airconditioning, lots of chatter...what more could I ask for....well, Crispy Pata, and we had that too hahahah.
I had actually met Laine, Tin, and Abie previously and was sure I would enjoy myself again. I did -- plus I got the bonus of meeting Len (who I had only previously known through reading her blog, and occasionally hearing her on the radio), and Clarice (who I would catch on the chat sometimes).
For a group of people who had hardly met there was no awkward silences at all. I could hear laughter when I walked into the restaurant (Finio at Morato) and I quickly joined in. It's odd, the internet...you sometimes learn quicker about someone from reading about them than from actually being with them. No tippytoeing around, just a straight on launch into being good friends.
We went through so much topics during lunch I have trouble recalling everything -- Clarice and Abies coordination business, weddings (siempre), getting lost on the road, dead toenails (!), etc etc etc.
I have to mention I kept getting distracted by Len's hair. It was so straight and shiny! Pwede talaga pang commercial.
Len's got photos.
Ok, showbiz moment. Laine, thank you thank you for the bracelet and cd :) Abie thanks for the ZZZ...Burp!, and Len, thank you for the pressie :) (I got a bit mortified because I was asking Len why she was lugging an enormous plastic bag, and it turned out they were pressies for everyone...wow mid year holiday talaga!) Pebz, got the "package" :) Looking forward to seeing you soon.
Lets do this more often girls. Psst, kayo, sama na next time.

6/14/2005 4:40 amHi! I don't know if the anti-seizure pill that our dog is taking is Phenobarbital but just the same, it makes him sleep most of the time. But as long as we give him a pill a day, he'll not have the attacks. It think the name of the drug is Dilantin. FYI.

it's so great to meet online friends ano? that was the same for me meeting my w@wie friends (my batchmates back in 2000-2001) and now my n@w friends -- whenever I come home from NZ, there's always an EB to catch up with the n@w ladies and it's like coming home talaga! :-)

Guys, if youre in Manila please email naman so we can meet up :D If you're in the US naman wait for me to get there :P I promise to be on my best behavior heheh
Daniel, hope your furry friend is doing well now. Does he get groggy with the Dilantin? Ita sometimes gets spaced out with the Pheno. The vet mentioned Dilantin din pero decided to go with Pheno as this was more commonly used for epi-cats. Something about how long tha animal takes to metabolize the drug yata. Yun nga lang its so hard to split the tiny pill into 8 I keep wasting part of it even if I use my pillcutter
