An Hour at the Printers

Printer Lady: Sooo....main invite....entourage card....reception card.....response card....at home card....thank you card....gift tag....that'a a lot of inserts....why don't you place the reception details in the main invite?

Mai: Ummmm....it doesn't look good with the layout....

Printer Lady: Mai, what about the maps?

Mai: Ehehe...been busy at work actually...so I haven't had time to work on it.

Printer Lady: I suggest you print it yourself, it's more cost efficient...you can get the paper from us if you want the maps to match the invitations...

Mai: Yeah...that's what I'll do. Thanks Jean :)

Printer Lady:
Hmmmm....aren't you going to place a monogram?

Mai: Uhhhh....well....I thought about it, but J isn't a very pretty initial....and I think Jo would get upset if I changed his name to "Goel" just so the monogram looks pretty....so....I scrapped the idea...

Printer Lady: So, what color would you like the text in? I've got a color book here.

Mai: Oh that's fine. I've got my own color books with me....hmmm....Berts, wat u tink? Olive green text right?

Berts: Yup...hmmm....(studies book)

Mai: Hmmmm....(studies book)

Berts: What about these two green swatches?

Mai: Oh I like Pantone PMS 5825U for the Green. What do you think Berts?

Berts: Yup, thats good, an olive that is almost dark grey...

Printer Lady: Ok, what about the lining....

Repeat of Hmmmm, Rifle through book, hmmmm, rifle, hmmm, short discussion, hmmmm...

Mai: Ok the lining will be Pantone PMS 702U Pink.

Berts: Yeah...that will go well with the green...hmmm what will tie the 2 colors together?

Mai: Oh, I don't want a ribbon or anything...

Berts: Of course...hmmmm

Mai: Hmmm....

Berts: Can you print a full color on the back of the invite?

Printer Lady: Well, no one has asked before, but yes we can.

Berts: What u think Mai? Even if only for the thankyou cards...since you'll be using that after....

Mai: Sold. Jean (printer lady), please do the backs of the thankyou cards in Pink - the Pantone PMS 702U. How much more would that cost?

Printer Lady: 5 pesos per piece.

Mai: Done.

Berts: I am very tempted to do ALL the backs in pink....

Mai: Yup, that would be so cool....I can imagine the wedding preparations photos...."Our Invites and Rings", "BACK of our Invites and Rings" heheheh...

Berts: Ganda, diba?

Mai: Yepper...but I think the invitations will end up costing more than my dress....Jo doesn't even know I ordered engraved thankyou cards heeeh.

Berts: Bah!

Mai: I hate budgeting.. :(

Printer Lady: (to herself I bet) I hate designers....

Yes, it actually happened that way.

Serious na. Jean of Ever Engraving is a very nice lady, and was very patient while we were picking colors, making design revisions etc. She gave me a discount and offered to print the envelope address for free :)

Berts did all the layout work so everything was print ready, and Jean said their layout artists were happy to get the drafts in Illustrator / Mac format na.

I am just waiting for the drafts so we can check the output.

What a relief, we were actually 2 weeks delayed in giving the drafts and I was really worried we wouldn't get our invitations out in time.

Tapos na rin.

Salamat.
